For undergraduate students, California State University, Northridge offers a BA in Anthropology, a Minor in general Anthropology, and a Minor in Applied Anthropology.
The Major in Anthropology equips students with a versatile skill set for today's globalized world, blending critical thinking, cultural competence, research expertise, and empathetic communication, fostering a more understanding and inclusive society. Our program offers a comprehensive foundation in the field's core areas: archaeology, biological anthropology, and sociocultural anthropology. We also emphasize applied anthropology, preparing graduates for diverse career paths in fields such as public health, cultural resource management, museums and cultural heritage work, environmental conservation, non-profits, business, marketing, tourism, government, and technology careers centered on human interaction and experience. Our curriculum integrates cutting-edge methodologies, including digital ethnography and hands-on work with the CSU’s largest osteological cast collection. Students immerse themselves in fieldwork, collaborative research projects, and internships, gaining practical experience that sets them apart in the job market.
The Anthropology Minor equips students with a holistic understanding of human diversity and global issues.
