Research & Sponsored Programs

The Research and Sponsored Programs office (RSP) manages all grants and contracted (“sponsored”) programs for the University. Our pre-award liaisons assist investigators with identifying and interpreting funding opportunities, proposal development and submission, and award receipt. Through our partnership with The University Corporation (TUC), post-award liaisons set up award accounts, manage all awards, and assist with contract extensions and closeouts.

Proposal Development

All proposals for extramural support of research and sponsored programs must be submitted by an Authorized Official in RSP. The pre-award analyst assigned to your college, department, or center will help you develop a checklist of required documents and address key components of your proposal, including budget, narrative, required compliance documents, institutional information, and a description of core facilities and other resources.

Research Integrity

RSP is responsible for oversight of programs to ensure research integrity at CSUN. Information is provided on topics that include: The responsible conduct of research (RCR); the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI); the protection of human subjects (IRB); animal care and use (IACUC); institutional biosafety (IBC); conflicts of interest; export control; the use of drones (or unmanned aircraft systems); and, intellectual property. Centers & Institutes

RSP provides administrative oversight for all campus centers and institutes (C&Is). Visit the C&I directory to learn more about the range of research, scholarship, creative activity and services provided to the campus and local community. Current directors have access to report templates and guidance for the charter renewal process. Aspiring directors can learn more about campus policy to establish a new center.

Resources for Faculty

RSP offers a number of resources to support faculty research and creative activity. For example, Cayuse is the electronic system of record for all proposals submitted for sponsored programs. Pivot-RP is a subscription database service containing active funding opportunities for all disciplines and project types.
