2023 Awards Ceremony

Each year the Matador Involvement Center hosts a very special awards ceremony to recognize the amazing and influential work of our student leaders, clubs, organizations, and advisors. It is with deepest campus pride and our great honor to acknowledge the spectacular things they do. Below is a list of all of our award categories for this year’s Awards Ceremony.

Award Ceremony ‘23 Awards & Descriptions

ADVISOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
This award is for an organization advisor that has demonstrated support and actively participates in the planning of activities and events for the organization. Advisor must be the advisor on record from your University Registration/Re-Registration Process. Must have advised during the 2022-2023 academic year.

COLLABORATIVE PROGRAM AWARD
This award is for any program developed in collaboration between two (2) or more clubs/organizations at CSUN. The organizations must have demonstrated the power of collaboration and how well groups are able to create something with one or more other groups. Event must have taken place during the 2022-2023 academic year.

COLLEN L. FRENCK SERVICE AWARD
This award recognizes an organization who has provided service and had an impact on our campus and/or the surrounding community. This award is a combination of the "Community Service to Campus Award" and "Service to Community Award".

COMMITMENT TO SOCIAL JUSTICE AWARD
This award is for individuals or clubs/organizations who have demonstrated a consistent pursuit of social justice on campus and within our community.

CREATIVE MARKETING AWARD
This award is for an organization that has demonstrated a great marketing strategy throughout the academic year. This can include social media, effective use of technology, T-shirts, etc. We want to see how creative you were in marketing your organization this year.

DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION PROGRAM AWARD
This award is for any program that contributed to multicultural awareness and exposed participants to a culture, artistic expression, tradition, or historical overview of one or more cultures. Also recognizes a program that promoted a sense of inclusivity on campus. Event must have taken place during the 2022-2023 academic year.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AWARD
This award is for any program that demonstrated a benefit to students by educating others about causes, academics, etc. Event must have taken place during the 2022-2023 academic year.

ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM AWARD
This award is for any entertainment program that showcased student talent and/or invited a presenter/performer to bring entertainment to our campus. Event must have taken place during the 2022-2023 academic year.

LECTURE PROGRAM AWARD
This award recognizes any program that utilized a lecture program to impact attendees. Event must have taken place during the 2022-2023 academic year.

NEW PROGRAM AWARD
This award recognizes any program that has been implemented for the first-time at CSUN during the 2022-2023 academic year.

OUTSTANDING ALUMNUS AWARD
This award recognizes a CSUN alumnus who has made significant contributions to a club/organization during the 2022-2023 academic year.

OUTSTANDING CONFERENCE PROGRAM AWARD
This award recognizes a club/organization who has planned and implemented an educational program in the format of a conference with multiple presenters or workshops. Event must have taken place during the 2022-2023 academic year.

OUTSTANDING FRATERNITY & SORORITY LIFE AWARD
This award recognizes a Fraternity or Sorority that has demonstrated a positive impact on our campus and community. Must be affiliated with one of the following Greek Councils: Independent Greek Council (IGC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), National Pan Hellenic Council (NPHC), United Sorority & Fraternity Council (USFC) or Panhellenic Council (PHC).

OUTSTANDING FUNDRAISER AWARD
This award recognizes a club/organization that held a successful, unique, and creative fundraiser during the 2022-2023 academic year.

OUTSTANDING MEMBER AWARD
This award recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact to campus and their club/organization.

OUTSTANDING NEW CLUB AWARD
This award recognizes a club/organization that is new to campus and has made significant contributions during its first year. The organization must have been recognized during the 2022-2023 academic year.

OUTSTANDING OFFICER AWARD
This award recognizes an officer of a club/organization who has made a significant impact on campus and their organization. The individual must have been an officer during the 2022-2023 academic year.

OUTSTANDING ORGANIZATION AWARD
This award recognizes an organization that has contributed to campus and community engagement, demonstrated strong leadership, and lead a lasting impact. The organization must have been recognized during the 2022-2023 academic year.

THOMAS E. PIERNIK MATADOR SPIRIT AWARD
This award recognizes an individual or organization that has expressed and continues to demonstrate CSUN spirit and pride.
