Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has a rich and evolving heritage spanning more than 80 years. We serve the manufacturing industry as a nonprofit by promoting advanced manufacturing technology and developing a skilled workforce. And, we work closely with manufacturers to share knowledge and resources that generate solutions meeting industry demands.
The Matabots are a collective group of motivated individuals who come from a variety of educational backgrounds, all with a common interest in mind: love for science and engineering. Our main purpose is to design, build, and program robots that will compete in the World VEX U Robotics competition. Along this journey, we also encourage others within our surrounding community to pursue similar goals by teaching the fundamentals of engineering and science. Through robotics we hope to inspire young professionals to advance in science, math, and technology.

Putting words into action, Professor Emerita Bonita J. Campbell established an endowment that actively advocates for the participation of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). The Bonita J. Campbell Endowment for Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), emphasizes promoting and encouraging women to participate in insufficiently represented industries. The Campbell WISE endowment also aims to conserve the evolution and contributions of women in the science and engineering disciplines.
The Women In Society & Engineering (WISE) organization was established with the following principles:
- Encourage women to pursue careers in the fields of science and engineering.
- Support and facilitate the advancement of women in their careers.
- Preserve the stories of women who have been pioneers in the science and engineering disciplines.
- Inform leaders and educators about the significant contributions made by women in these vital fields.
The Machine Shop club is a community of aspiring engineers looking to understand how things are made. Generally, classes only teach you how to design parts and engineering projects, not necessarily on the actual production of said parts. In the practical world, not everything you design can be made or could be too financially burdensome to make. Within the club, we teach you to understand how things are machined and the limitations of shop machines. With this foundational knowledge, you can learn how to design better parts.
Though the club is generally geared toward aiding engineers in their fields we also love teaching machining to everyone. If you just want to come by and learn, come on by!
