California State University, Northridge, provides eligible employees with a variety of opportunities to enhance their benefit coverage or extend their pre-tax savings. Flexible Benefit Plans:
I. Healthcare Reimbursement Account:
A Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA), or flexible spending account is a way to pay health care expenses with pre-tax dollars. The HCRA is administered by ASIFlex, a third party administrator.
II. Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA):
A Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA), or flexible spending account is a way to pay dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. The DCRA is administered by ASIFlex, a third party administrator.
III. Flexcash:
FlexCash is an optional benefit plan that allows you to waive medical and/or dental insurance coverage if you have other non-CSU coverage. This benefit provides a cash payment in lieu of your medical and/or dental insurance coverage. If eligible, you may select FlexCash in lieu of a medical plan, and still enroll in a dental plan for your and your dependents.
IV. Tax Advantage Premium Plan (TAPP):
If you are an active employee eligible for, and elect coverage through the CSU in a CalPERS health plan, the Tax Advantage Premium Plan (TAPP) enables you to pay for your medical insurance coverage on a pre-tax basis. Any such premiums for the CSU-sponsored coverage you have selected will be deducted each month from your salary before federal and state income and Social Security/Medicare taxes are calculated and deducted.
Voluntary Benefit Programs:
I. Voluntary Life, Voluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Voluntary Long Term Disability,
Critical Illness (CI) and Accident Insurance (AI)
Are you looking for additional protection for you and your family members at very competitive group rates? Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) provides employer paid Basic Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Long Term Disability (LTD) insurance to eligible employees of the California State University (The CSU). The CSU also offers eligible employees the opportunity to apply for Voluntary Life, Voluntary AD&D, Voluntary Long Term Disability, Critical Illness (CI) and Accident Insurance (AI). Auto and Home insurance is offered to all CSU employees, excluding Rehired Annuitants and Students, at a discounted rate through California Casualty. Coverage for eligible dependents available at an additional cost.

II. Metlaw Legal Plan:
The Group Legal Services Plan can help you feel as though you have your own "attorney on retainer". The Plan can cover a wide range of legal matters.
In the event of separation from employment or a reduction in timebase, California State University faculty and staff may be eligible for Unemployment Insurance (UI) as administered by the State Employment Development Department (EDD). IV. Pet Insurance:
Nationwide is offering two benefit options for your pets. The insurance can cover your pet’s accidents, illnesses, and even preventive care and wellness services. Plans are available for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals and exotic (such as reptiles). V. KinderCare Child Care Resource:
CSU employees are eligible for a 10% tuition discount when you enroll your child(ren) at a KinderCare center. A number of programs are available including full, part-time and drop-in child care as well as school-age distance learning programs.
