About Us
a11y+ is a student-driven enterprise founded with support from the Global HSI Equity Innovation Hub to advance digital accessibility and empower the next generation of technology and design leaders. Bringing together students and faculty from diverse disciplines, including computer science, visual design, and engineering, a11y+ focuses on three core goals: providing hands-on training, driving impactful research, and delivering accessibility services to both CSUN and the broader community.
Our primary mission is to create opportunities for students to gain valuable experience and skills in accessibility. Through specialized training programs, students and faculty collaborate to deepen their understanding of inclusive design and technology, preparing them for dynamic careers in this critical field. Students also have the chance to contribute to cutting-edge research that seeks to advance accessibility standards and practices.
In addition to fostering learning and innovation, a11y+ offers accessibility consulting services to on-campus departments and local organizations. These services enable trained students to work as accessibility consultants, often in partnership with IntersectLA (IXLA), bridging their academic training with real-world applications.
By emphasizing a learn-by-doing model, a11y+ not only promotes accessibility but also ensures that students are at the forefront of creating a more inclusive digital future for our campus and community.
