University Art Collection Commission
About
When The University Foundation Art Collection Commission was established in 1974, its six original members drafted its mission: to encourage learning and research for students, faculty, and local community members and to enrich CSUN’s campus by loaning works to its publicly accessed spaces. CSUN Professor Emeritus and acclaimed artist Hans Burkhardt established the backbone of the collection early on by generously donating paintings, prints, and drawings. Today, the collection consists of more than 3,000 artworks, including artworks by emeritus faculty and esteemed alumni as well as artists from the San Fernando Valley, the greater Los Angeles area, and beyond.
We are deeply thankful to our numerous donors, whose eclectic taste and charitability have helped shape and refine the personality of the collection. The University Art Collection is now pleased to offer selected works digitally, to serve as a research tool and valuable resource for CSUN and the extended community.
