Job Description:

Joel coordinates the Operations department at Melissa’s Produce, working alongside key team members to ensure quality produce is delivered from the field to the consumer's plate.

He collaborates with regulatory agencies like the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) to manage the company's fleet and equipment registrations. In partnership with the marketing team, Joel contributes to the development of the annual Sustainability Report, offering insights and guidance to effectively communicate the company's progress. He also works with other team members to create unique packaging solutions that balance environmental impact with cost savings. One of Joel's favorite tasks is onboarding new employees by presenting an introductory sustainability training, ensuring the team shares a common understanding of the company's environmental goals.

Currently, he is spearheading projects to improve efficiency and data-driven decision-making, such as collaborating with the IT department to upgrade the truck fleet’s GPS and tracking systems for fuel efficiency and optimal routing, and installing energy meters on older forklift chargers to monitor and quantify energy use. These efforts allow the company to target its next sustainable steps with precision.
