History of CSUN CM Golf Classic

For over two decades, the Construction Management Golf Classic at CSUN has stood as a cornerstone event bringing together industry leaders, alumni, and supporters of CSUN's Construction Management program. This annual tournament has evolved to become a catalyst for student success, providing essential funding for scholarships, competition participation, and cutting-edge educational resources.

Through this collaboration for 2024 alone, we've helped shape the future of construction management education, graduating over 200 successful professionals while maintaining a current enrollment of more than 162 students in our program. Through the generous support of our sponsors and participants, we maintain our commitment to preparing students for the construction industry upon graduation.

2024 CM Golf Classic Tournament

The 2024 Construction Management Golf Classic delivered another exceptional day of golf and networking at the scenic Moorpark Country Club on November 4th. Under the leadership of distinguished co-chairs David Honda of DH Consulting and Eric Wilson of E. Wilson Consulting, alongside a dedicated committee of industry professionals and CSUN faculty members, players enjoyed a full day of activities, beginning at 9:00 AM with a welcoming registration period featuring continental breakfast, an engaging chipping contest, and open access to the driving range.

The main event kicked off at 11:00 AM with a shotgun start, as teams competed in a four-person modified best ball format. Throughout the course, participants encountered exciting challenges, including specially designed par-3 contest holes and strategic competition areas. The day's festivities culminated in an elegant cocktail reception at 4:30 PM, followed by the signature 19th Hole Dinner Reception at 5:00 PM. This evening celebration honored both tournament champions and outstanding student achievements through scholarship presentations.

Proceeds directly supported student scholarships, enabled participation in the prestigious Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) Student Competition in Reno, Nevada, funded cutting-edge software and equipment acquisitions, and facilitated faculty development through national and regional conferences. These resources have proven essential in maintaining the program's American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accreditation and ensuring graduates are ready to make immediate impacts in the construction industry.
