The Degree Road Maps help you anticipate the courses and sequence of General Education (GE) and major requirements for earning your Bachelor’s degree.
Maps are available for freshmen (four-year plans), transfer students (two-year plans), and students who have completed an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T and AS-T) from a California community college.
More than a list, your Road Map helps you to:
- Complete your degree within two or four years.
- Take classes in prerequisite order.
- Identify courses that can satisfy both GE and major requirements at the same time.
You can be confident knowing that your degree requirements for the catalog year in which you selected your major will not change.
Find the map for your plan and major on the CSUN University Catalog Degree Road Maps landing page. No login is required.
The Degree Progress Report (DPR)/Planner helps you to:
- Identify the GE and major requirements you still need to complete, and
- Estimate the time it will take to complete your degree.
With DPR/Planner, you’ll check your progress and make a semester-by-semester plan to meet remaining degree requirements.
DPR/Planner, which changes over time to reflect your progress, delivers two tools in one:
- In the DPR AUDIT, you’ll find:
- Any courses you’ve transferred to CSUN and where they place into degree requirement sections.
- The degree and major requirements you’ve already completed and those you still need to meet in order to graduate.
- A printer-friendly “export to PDF” option.
- Any courses you’ve transferred to CSUN and where they place into degree requirement sections.
- In the DPR PLANNER *, you can drag and drop courses into a personal, semester-by-semester plan for meeting your remaining degree requirements. With the interactive features of DPR Planner, you can:
- Experiment with different "what if" scenarios and majors.
- Export your plan from DPR to Registration Planner in one click.
- Experiment with different "what if" scenarios and majors.
*At this time, DPR Planner is available to undergraduate students only, but the DPR Audit is available to graduate students as well. Second bachelor's degree students should contact their advisor.
Use DPR/Planner to prepare for meetings with your undergraduate or graduate advisor.

FAQs
Degree Planning FAQs
Questions about any of the Degree Planning Tools? The FAQs below will direct you to the right office, person or website.
Your academic advisor is your ally in planning and completing your degree. If you’re a new student, your advisor will help you use the Degree Planning Tools and explain the placement of courses in your Degree Progress Report (DPR). Whether you’re a new or continuing student, always talk with your advisor before finalizing any decisions related to your major.
Before you sign up for a class at another school, make sure the course is transferrable! Read more about transferring GE and major courses to CSUN at Transfer Course Information.
The answer depends on the courses you’re asking about — GE or your major — and also your degree objective.
Undergraduate students:
- For the placement of courses in your major, contact your academic advisor.
- For the placement of General Education courses, complete a DPR Review Request.
Graduate students:
If you are having technical problems running a DPR report, please complete a DPR Review Request.
When you apply for graduation, you will receive a special DPR audit clearly labeled "Graduation Evaluation." It will list any remaining requirements for degree completion.
For assistance, refer to Graduation FAQs or contact Undergraduate Degree Services.
No, the DPR audit is NOT a transcript. It is not intended to report your achievement to outside parties. It cannot be released to a third party without your written consent.
The DPR/Planner tool does not show academic standing (i.e., good, on notice, disqualified) and might not reflect your most recent GPA. Refer to the next FAQ.
Although your DPR shows your Grade Point Average (GPA), it might not reflect your most recent GPA. To view your current GPA, log in to the CSUN Portal, select Academics in the top menu, then Advising & Degree Planning, and lastly View Unofficial Transcripts.
To request a change of major or minor for a bachelor’s degree, please refer to:
To change a graduate program degree objective, please refer to Change of Objective, University Catalog.
If you are eligible to enroll in classes, you can use Registration Planner several weeks before and after your enrollment appointment. The link is always available in the CSUN Portal, so you can view which semesters are open.
