CSUN Faculty Statement In Solidarity with the Armenians of CSUN and the Republic of Artsakh

WHEREAS, the Government of Azerbaijan, under the dictatorship regime of President Ilham Aliyev, started a war on September 27th, 2020 on the Republic of Artsakh (Mountainous-Karabagh), which has an absolute majority of Armenians in the population; and
WHEREAS, the Azeri forces are using cluster bombs and kamikaze drones on the civilian populations in cities, towns, and villages; and
WHEREAS, the Azeri forces, supported by the Government of Turkey and ISIS terrorists from Syria and other fighters from Afghanistan and Pakistan, are attempting to exterminate the Armenians in order to finalize the 1915 Armenian Genocide; and
WHEREAS, California State University, Northridge is home to over 3500 Armenian students and a substantial number of Armenian faculty, staff and administrators, who are descendants of the survivors of the 1915 Armenian Genocide; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Faculty Senate of CSUN strongly condemns the Azeri-Turkish aggression; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Faculty Senate of CSUN calls for the immediate cessation of all violence and stand in solidarity with the Armenian students, faculty, administrators, and staff at CSUN.
