What is ACUE?
The Association of College and University Educators (ACUE) is an organization that offers faculty asynchronous courses on how to teach effectively in both in-person and online course environments.
What's the history of ACUE at CSUN?
CSUN participated in any early pilot of the ACUE program and offered our first full Effective Online Teaching Program in 2020-2021. Since then, we have offered that program multiple times, the classroom version of the program, and multiple microcredentials.
In 2022, under the direction of the Provost Office with Faculty Development, CSUN was selected as one of only eight institutions nationwide to participate in a major study of gateway courses funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. CSUN faculty who joined this Gates Foundation research study, conducted by ACUE, contributed to a nationwide effort to examine the relationship between evidence-based instruction in gateway courses (details below) and student outcomes.
Independently validated research is demonstrating that students, particularly those who are underserved, are more engaged, learn more, and complete courses in greater numbers when taught by ACUE-credentialed faculty.
