Summer AI Fellows

The Office of Faculty Development invites applications for Summer AI Fellows, a program designed to support pedagogically grounded approaches to artificial intelligence in teaching, learning, and research.

Four Fellows will be selected by the Office of Faculty Development to identify faculty needs, co-develop faculty-driven programming, and support discipline-appropriate approaches to AI in teaching, learning, and research. All faculty, including lecturers, from all Colleges and the Library are eligible to apply.

A curriculum vitae and brief cover letter addressing relevant experience and qualifications (no more than two pages single-spaced) must be emailed to facdev@csun.edu no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 24, 2026.

  • Work with Faculty Development on AI-related teaching, learning, and research.
  • Co-facilitate summer Faculty Learning Communities in partnership with Faculty Development and Academic Technology.
  • Collaborate with Faculty Development staff to design programming which may include workshops, consultations, facilitated discussions, and video content
  • Contribute to the development of accessible, asynchronous AI resources for faculty.
  • Support faculty in exploring innovative and ethical uses of AI tools in teaching and research, with a focus on pedagogically sound and equity-minded teaching practices.
  • Assist with assessment of programming to inform ongoing institutional initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Faculty Director of Faculty Development, Faculty Development staff, and the AVP of Faculty Programs and Initiatives to ensure alignment with campus priorities.
  • Participate in New Faculty Orientation and New Lecturer Faculty Orientation

Areas of potential focus may include, but are not limited to:

  • AI literacy and pedagogical foundations
  • Ethical and equity-minded uses of AI
  • Understanding and mitigating AI bias
  • Revising assignments and curriculum in response to AI
  • AI and critical thinking
  • AI and writing
  • Implications of AI use for student learning
  • Assessment and feedback using AI-supported approaches
  • Discipline-specific applications of AI

This appointment will run from May 11, 2026, through August 14, 2026, with an expected commitment of approximately 112 hours (8 hours per week).

Total Additional Pay: $6,160

  • Current tenured, tenure-track, or lecturer faculty
  • Demonstrated experience in artificial intelligence and pedagogy, including the integration of AI tools or approaches into equity-minded teaching and learning practices
  • Evidence of successfully facilitating workshops and/or trainings for faculty
  • Demonstrated interest in professional development for faculty
