Hello and welcome everyone! My name is Joseline Torres Martinez, and I am an Outreach Counselor here at CSUN. A little about me, I was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and I came to the United States at the age of four. As the oldest of four and the first person (but not last) to attend college, I have navigated the complexities of pursuing higher education as a first-generation college student. I am honored to say I have earned a double degree from California State University, Chico in Psychology and Child Development. I later earned my masters in Higher Education Leadership from CSUN, where I became a proud Matador.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students of all ages from preschool to college. As a student, I stayed active through on campus student employments, internships, volunteer opportunities, cultural clubs, leadership organizations, and being a member of a Latina sorority (ΛΘΝ). College is not only a way for you to further your education, but this time is also a period of self-development and exploration. Stay involved on campus, challenge yourself, and say yes to new opportunities to help you become a better version of yourself. Remember you didn't come this far to only come this far...keep going!

During my free time I enjoy watching sunsets, reading, drinking matcha, going on scenic walks or attending a Zumba class, and spending time with my family and friends!
