Program Mission 

The Family and Consumer Sciences options focuses to enhance the quality of life for individuals, families and communities through education, research, creative endeavors and public services. Students benefit from a holistic and integrative approach that involves multiple disciplines in Family and Consumer Sciences. The program prepares students to become positive, productive members of the workforce, families and the community.

The Consumer Sciences Option is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS).

Mentorship & Advising

All students in the Family and Consumer Sciences program are mentored and guided by our faculty advisers. Our courses integrate the educational experience that will help students attain promising careers in Family and Consumer Sciences.

Internships

A crucial component to the Family and Consumer Sciences academic experience is the required internship course. Students earn professional experience and academic credit toward the degree. Internships provide networking opportunities and potential lifelong professional relationships in and around Los Angeles.
